Why Are MAGA Republicans Trump and JD Vance Being Called Weird?
“Weird” is a relative term. For a Black Lives Matter (BLM) or Anti-Fascist (AntiFa) activist, law and order is “weird.” For an individual with a delusion of gender identity or a homosexual pedophile, a healthy and normal sexual orientation is “weird.” From a murderer who would kill 65 million innocent people just because they are a “hindrance,” the notion of respecting the right to life is “weird.” For those who wish to destroy the country for a “fundamental transformation,” supporting and defending the Constitution is “weird.”
For my part, being called “weird” by such individuals is something I wear as a badge of honor. I believe they are spiritually and mentally unwell, and while I wouldn’t use such imprecise language as “weird,” I admit that for common use, the term applies. The term “weird” is an apt description for MAGA Republicans, and my purpose here is to explain why.
For those on the left who reject logic, deny facts, and oppose reality, they often resort to name-calling and insults as a political tool. Alternatively, they might use terms like “Nazi” or declare an “existential threat to democracy,” hoping that a lunatic in their movement will eliminate their opponent through violence. The ABC News certainly won’t do it for them!
There are two primary reasons why MAGA Republicans and people like Trump and JD Vance are often labeled as “weird.” First, they are very, very weird. Secondly, it bothers them to be called so.
Stranger Than Ordinary
When you look at the MAGA movement and its followers, you have people who are simply “strange” or “oddballs.” While a considerable number of everyday criminals and psychopaths can be labeled as “ordinary misfits,” the MAGA Republicans, and JD Vance in particular, stand out as extraordinary. Their followers are part of the same misguided group, following leaders who echo their own beliefs and behaviors.
The troubling truth is that wise men can learn from fools, but fools lack the capacity to learn from wisdom. This is a stark contrast to the thinking of the average person who considers the Trump movement and its followers to be weird. Imagine an uncle who is convinced that windmills cause cancer and drink bleach, and feels that either battery electrocution or shark attacks are preferable to natural events like hurricanes. Such a person would be considered bizarre, especially during family gatherings like Thanksgiving.
A Call to Action
It is imperative for both individuals and society to recognize the alarming nature of these beliefs and the individuals who espouse them. Calling out “weird” behavior isn’t just about ridiculing those who hold such views. It is a necessary step in fostering a healthy, rational, and open-minded society. It is important to continue to raise awareness about the dangers of such ideologies and to encourage critical thinking and rational discourse.
In conclusion, the term “weird” accurately describes the behavior and beliefs of MAGA Republicans, individuals like Trump and JD Vance. While calling someone “weird” might seem like a form of mockery, it is a call to action to recognize and challenge these dangerous ideas.
