Unique Moments and Reflections on the Raksha Bandhan Festival
Dear friends!
This Raksha Bandhan of 2022 was incredibly special for me. It was a unique experience as I celebrated the festival in a manner never before.
Traditionally, rakhi is tied by sisters to their brothers. But this year, I had the honor of becoming the little brother alongside my cousin.

A Deep Bond Through the Years
This celebration was a little late but highly significant. It marked 16 years of my life when I finally tied rakhi with my eldest cousin. Although we were mourning a recent loss, the joy of the celebration was palpable. Tears of joy filled my eyes as we commemorated this special day together, including my younger cousin.
Nostalgic Habits and Letters
Itrsquo;s been about 15 years since I sent or received informal letters through the post. For a long time, we relied on phone calls for communication. However, earlier this morning, we received a letter after so many years. This letter was addressed to my brother, sent by my cousin. We were truly amazed at the content of the letter, as it strictly followed the informal letter format taught in school. This made for quite an amusing read.
Reflecting on those old days, my mother would write letters to her two brothers in Uttarakhand. The joy she felt upon receiving replies and new year greeting cards was incomparable. It brings back fond memories, especially the pleasure she derived from receiving handwritten letters.
No Sisters, But a Childhood Full of Rafts
Unfortunately, I have no sister. However, I vividly remember my childhood days when I used to watch the shop selling rakhis. Their attractive designs and colors were so appealing that I couldnrsquo;t take my eyes off them. I observed all my friends wearing rakhi to school the next day, and I felt that I should have one too. So, every night I asked my mother to buy me rakhi, and she kindly obliged. On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie rakhi on the wrists of their brothers to protect them from evil influences and pray for their longevity and happiness.
Through Raksha Bandhan, we celebrate the unbreakable bond that siblings share. Whether related by blood or chosen, the love and care shown on this day are a testament to the special significance of brotherhood and sisterhood.
I hope you enjoyed these reflections on Raksha Bandhan. Stay blessed!
