The Benefits and Features of Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Vriksharopan Protsahan Yojana

Introduction

Under the leadership of Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, the Mukhyamantri Vriksharopan Protsahan Yojana (MVP) aims to promote large-scale tree plantation. This initiative has been designed to address environmental, economic, and social challenges, while also aligning with national goals.

Plantation Incentive Scheme

The MVP scheme includes a wide array of tree species such as wood, non-timber fruit-bearing trees, bamboo, minor forest produce, and medicinal plants. These are to be planted in non-forest areas to enhance biodiversity and promote sustainable land use.

Scope and Implementation

In addition to non-forest areas, large-scale plantations of wood, non-timber fruit-bearing trees, bamboo, minor forest produce, and medicinal plants will also be encouraged in forest and revenue forest land where forest rights have been granted with the consent of the beneficiaries. This scheme facilitates the cultivation of high-value plants for the Chief Minister's plantation initiative.

Tangible Benefits of the Scheme

MVP brings a myriad of benefits, from environmental to economic. For instance:

Water Levels: Planting more trees helps in raising water levels, ensuring a sustainable water supply. Employment: Citizens are offered employment opportunities, contributing to their livelihoods. Timber Supply: Large-scale production of timber and non-timber forest products will meet the ever-growing demands. Enhanced GDP: The scheme is expected to boost the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the state.

Specific Incentives

Under the MVP, farmers who have planted trees in lieu of paddy crops on their fields will receive financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per acre per year. If the plantation is successful after one year, this amount will be renewed. This initiative will further boost the income of the farmers who participate.

Similarly, gram panchayats that undertake commercial plantation with the shared resources will receive similar incentives. Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) will also be eligible for incentives for successful plantations, with the power to cut and sell these trees after one year vested in the concerned JFMC.

Collaboration and Supervision

The implementation of the MVP will be supervised by the Chief Forest Conservator and Chief of Forest Force, in collaboration with the Agriculture Production Commissioner. District-level implementation will be overseen by collectors, ensuring that the scheme is executed with transparency and efficiency.

Registration Process

Beneficiaries will need to register with the concerned forest zone office within six months of planting to receive incentives. The plants will be inspected annually by the concerned Forest Officer, and the assistance will be directly transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary's bank account.

Conclusion

The Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Vriksharopan Protsahan Yojana is a comprehensive and well-rounded initiative that promotes sustainable land use and economic growth. It aligns with the broader objectives of environmental conservation and rural development, making it a promising and impactful scheme for the state and its citizens.
