Reflections on Life and Growth: Maintain Positivity During Adversity
Reflections on Life and Growth: Maintain Positivity During Adversity
For some reason, a question about the wellbeing of Habib Fanny touched me deeply. Perhaps I am more sentimental than usual.
Personal Well-being and Sleep Habits
I am doing well, albeit not without challenges. My sleep habits have regressed recently, and I am committed to rectifying this. I aim to be in bed by 11 PM tonight. This habit of maintaining a healthy sleep schedule is crucial for overall health and productivity.
Sponsoring a Future Reader and Emotional Reflections
Currently, I am engaged in chats with my niece, who will turn 12 next month. My goal is to inspire her to become a reader. I have promised to buy her any book she desires for the rest of my life, which warms my heart. However, I jokingly hope she does not choose super rare books!
Today, I found myself in a moment of emotional openness as I discussed parenting styles with my sister. Our conversation touched on the struggles of motivating a teenage boy, with differing approaches evident between her and her husband. These reflections brought back memories of my own past experiences, and I shared an anecdote about my first winter in the United States, which profoundly shaped my own determination. The memories, both fond and challenging, sparked tears. Although I have been raised to believe crying is not a suitable response, I am learning to embrace and process these emotions.
Life Changes and Career Transition
I am currently not working. My last day in Memphis was on March 11. After collecting the final carload of belongings, I embarked on a journey to Eugene, Oregon, where I plan to start work on April 1st. Despite the healthcare field being affected by the pandemic, my situation remains stable for now. However, the prospect of starting a new job in a different state, with a new hospital system, and within an environment fraught with uncertainty, is daunting. I am determined to face these challenges head-on.
Physical and Mental Wellness
To cope with the solitude and stress, I have been taking long walks and even short runs outdoors. The fewer people around during these excursions is a welcome change. One of my favorite trails is Pres Trail, but the no-see-ums have made this experience less enjoyable. However, I am not letting this natural irritant deter me from a good outdoor workout.
Personal Development and Growth
I have started a new audiobook that resonates deeply with my interests. It is a captivating history of American politics since the late 1970s, offering a detailed analysis of how the country became so politically divided. I am only a few chapters in, but I highly recommend it to anyone interested in political history.
Conclusion and Gratitude
I am a loner, accustomed to playing by myself as a child and still doing so to this day. Moving to a city during a pandemic has intensified my solitariness, but I am committed to handling it. I am thankful for those who ask how I am doing and take the time to read my reflections. Wishing you all well.
EDIT: I lied. It is now 18 minutes past midnight, and I am still not in bed. I am determined to prioritize my health by taking a shower and heading to bed as soon as possible. Life is full of ups and downs, but with a positive mindset and resilience, we can navigate through them gracefully.
