Queen Elizabeth IIs Attendances for Her Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
Will Queen Elizabeth II Attend Her Platinum Jubilee Celebrations?
Queen Elizabeth II has attended some of the celebrations marking her Platinum Jubilee. It was ten days ago, with the actual anniversary being in February, and the official celebrations were held in June. However, the Queen's participation has been limited due to her advanced age and episodic mobility issues.
For the majority of the events, the Duke of Cambridge, the Princess Royal, and the Prince of Wales have represented Her Majesty. The National Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral was an event the Queen had to miss. Even the Archbishop of Canterbury, who had contracted COVID-19, was unable to attend.
The Queen's Participation
On the first day of the celebrations, Queen Elizabeth II was seen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Trooping the Colour ceremony. She then returned shortly to watch the Royal Air Force flypast. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the evening beacon launch, as announced by her officials. This left the Derby, the concert, and the parade.
Given her reduced capacity and mobility, I believe it is most likely that she will attend the Derby. There is a 50/50 chance she will attend the other events.
Family's Involvement and Potential Appearances
With celebrations taking place all over the country for the whole weekend, it would be impractical for the Queen to attend all of them. However, various members of the royal family will attend different events. For instance, Princess Anne is scheduled to attend an event in Derby.
The Queen is expected to make an effort to have a public appearance, likely in a locality close to where she is. It is also possible that she will participate in certain key events such as the Windsor Horse Show, as well as the balcony appearances and the service of thanksgiving. Given her mobility issues, she is likely to avoid the pop concert.
The Princess Royal is expected to represent the Queen at the Epsom Derby, an unmissable event for many.
Precedence and Speculation
Considering the Queen's health and mobility concerns, her participation is highly influenced by these factors. This analysis is based on various articles and news reports found online.
Regardless of her attendance, the Platinum Jubilee celebrations are set to be a significant milestone in British history, reflecting the Queen's enduring reign of 70 years on the throne.
