This manipulation is based on their fragile self-esteem and their need for control. Although they promise everything, they have little to offer emotionally and are incapable of genuine love.

Mental Abuse: An Ongoing Battle

Mental abuse involves ongoing verbal assaults that chip away at your self-worth and mental health. In the beginning, you may be unaware of how damaging these words can be. They are a form of bullying designed to weaken your resolve and, over time, distort your perception. If you do not learn to protect yourself, the abuser may escalate to physical or verbal abuse.

My abuser could not control me if I was no longer in his reach.
